Feb 1, 2014
Hello doc, My mother was recently diagnosed with hiv + she is 63 yrs old - her viral load is <75 cd4 is 867 cd4 % 23 cd8 1752 . She is otherwise healthy lady. Is it bad? Pls advise confused and worried daughter
Response from Mr. Vergel
Your mom seems to have caught early since her CD4 cell count is great and her viral load is very low. Starting medications would preserve her great CD4 count and prevent any complications. Her response to treatment will probably be as good as anyone much younger than her. So make sure she gets care.
Here is a video I made for people like your mom: The Next Steps After a HIV diagnosis
You are a great daughter and I am sure you will be supportive in her path to controlling HIV.
