Nelson - I know I speak for so many when I say how grateful we are for your knowledge, compassion and commitment.
I realize many are asking about pro-biotics because of the somewhat conflicting reports about them. I also realize you have written two articles about this issue. I have read and re-read them.
However - I STILL am not clear on your answer for "us" - do you recommend we take a well established, well regarded pro-biotic as part of our regular supplementation or not? I know you say you take it after anti-biotics, etc - but I think many of us are hoping to know - do you recommend a pro-biotic as part of our daily regimen?

I do not recommend anything since I am not a clinician.
I try to digest current data on the subject and provide pros and cons based on what we know.
I think if your gut health is good (no diarrhea, bloating, soft stools), then you probably have a healthy microbiota.
Well designed placebo controlled studies looking at immune benefits of probiotic supplements in HIV+ people are lacking. However, there are a few small ones that seem to indicate that these supplements may help those of us who suffer from diarrhea.
