My Body When I Die
Sep 5, 2008

Before HIV, I was committed to donating my body for transplantation or study purposes. Now that I have HIV, I know organ donation is out. Do you know of anyplace that needs or accepts the dead bodies of folks with HIV for research or even medical training? I don't mean to be morose, and I certainly don't plan to die anytime soon! I'm just sad to think that a stupid mistake on my part could prevent me from helping others after I'm gone. Thanks so much for your reply.

Response from Dr. Moyle

Well, first of all let us wish you a long and happy life! I am not aware of any scientific establishments that take the bodies of perons with HIV for scientific research. Best plan is to keep a watch on the HIV research in your city and participate in as much HIV research while you are alive as your way of contributing to science, that will guarantee tht you have helped others, even before you are gone. Best Wishes Graeme
