Insurance in UK
Sep 4, 2008

Hi Dr Moyle,

I have been diagnosed with HIV over a year ago and I am still not in treatment but according to my CD4 count I would probably start in 6 months. I travel quite often and I am concern for my insurance, since I can't find one accepting HIV positives. I live in UK. Would you be able to advise? Thank you for your expertise

Response from Dr. Moyle

As long as your CD4 is above 200 is is possible to get insurance

Try www.hivtravelinsurance.com or www.FreedomInsure.co.uk or www.the-insurance-surgery.co.uk/illness/hiv/insurance.php or www.world-first.co.uk/home/travel-insurance/medical-problems/hiv.aspx

If you are travelling within the EU you should apply for a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which provides access for EU citizens in all EU countries, form are available on line.

Kind Regards Dr Moyle
