HIV+ Aging With Warts?
May 7, 2008

I have had a couple of surgical procedures done in the past to remove skin cancer spots (Mholes). I now apparently have warts on my scalp (per a dermatologist at the VA Medical Center). Are they there because of aging or because of my HIV status? or some other reason. And are warts in the scalp something I should be concerned about because of my HIV status and/or previous skin cancer issues? My numbers are all good. Also, because I go to the VA Medical Center, should I trust their diagnoses or should I get another opinion? THANKS FOR THE INPUT!

Response from Dr. Moyle

Warts are common in the general population but may be more common or more persistent in people with HIV. hey are not related to the skin cancers. Your doctor at the VA should treat then as per usual, such as with cryo (freezing) therapy. Many VA hospitals have great reputations and provide great care. Sounds like you doctors are doing a great job. Take care Dr Moyle
