swollen testicles
Oct 2, 2008

My better half is HIV positive three years running. He decided early on not to take meds nor does he eat well or exercise. In Jan 08 he developed a small sore that quickly spread to the complete backside and the lower front side measuring 2.5 across by 3.5 length wise. I have been cleaning and caring for these sores since Jan and they appear to be getting worse not to mention new ones forming. He plans on getting meds just not right now. I also recently learned he is co-infected with HIV/Hep B plus herpes. Help me please

   Response from Dr. Moyle

Your partner needs to see an HIV specialist ASAP. It sounds like there is an infection there, possibly herpes, which can be very persistent in persons with weakened immune systems. The skin lesion can then become infected. He needs to get his immune system and viral load assessed and probably get started on treatment. HIV medication is so effective and generally well tolerated so he should not be fearful. The HIV treatment will also help address Hepatitis B. He needs your support to address these issues and get the treatments he evidently needs. Best Wishes Dr Moyle
